Most brand films are inventories. The object from six angles, a factory shot, a smiling person, a logo, a track from a library. They answer a question nobody was asking, because the product page already answered it with better photographs and a specification table.
By the time someone has two tabs open, the specifications are settled. Both products do the thing. What separates them is a belief about who made it and how much they cared — and no bullet point has ever transferred that.
Film is the only asset that can. The hand that has done this ten thousand times, the material before it becomes the product, the room at the hour it is most itself. That is what a person is actually choosing between, and it is why the strongest sequence in a brand film often contains no product at all.
It is also the asset with the longest life. A film shot properly is still working in five years, which is worth remembering while deciding what to spend on it.
