React Native mobile app development agency
React Native app development agency in Athens.
TWENTYONE is a React Native mobile app development agency in Athens. We build iOS and Android apps in React Native and Expo — one codebase, two stores, real native components — sharing types, logic and design with the web platform we build beside them.
Why React Native
Why React Native mobile app development
React Native renders real platform components — a real iOS switch, a real Android ripple — driven by the same React the web team already writes. It is not a website in a wrapper, and the difference is obvious in the hand. Instagram, Shopify, Discord, Microsoft, Coinbase and Bloomberg ship with it.
The commercial argument is simpler. Two native apps mean two codebases, two teams and two release cycles that drift apart within a year. React Native mobile app development gives you one codebase that ships to both stores and lets a fix be written once.
What we share
What is shared, and what deliberately is not
- Shared
- The TypeScript types for every API response, the validation, the API client, the business rules, the design tokens and the tests around all of it — with the website too.
- Not shared, on purpose
- The navigation idiom, the modals, the back gesture, the haptics and the type scale. An iOS user and an Android user expect different things, and an app that ignores that feels foreign.
- Native when needed
- Where a screen needs genuine native code — a platform SDK, a sensor, a payment sheet — it is written in Swift or Kotlin and dropped in. The door is never closed.
The whole product
The app, the API and the website from one team
A React Native app is only as good as the system behind it. Our Node.js web development team builds the API, accounts, payments and push notifications the app talks to; our React.js web development team builds the website on the same types. Nothing is built twice, and nothing can drift.
That is also why we are a mobile app development agency rather than an app shop: the app is planned as one surface of a product, with the website, the back office and the data it shares.
How we ship
Expo, over-the-air fixes and release discipline
We build and release with Expo. Over-the-air updates repair the JavaScript layer — a broken flow, a wrong string, a mispriced label — in minutes instead of queuing behind store review. Anything that changes native code, permissions or dependencies still goes through a new build and review, as store policy requires.
Crash and performance monitoring, staged rollouts and feature flags are there from the first build, so shipping weekly is routine and a bad release reaches a few users, not all of them.
When not to
When React Native is the wrong answer
React Native mobile app development is our default, not our religion. Sustained background location, heavy real-time graphics or AR, and deep Bluetooth or hardware work are better served by native Swift and Kotlin — and we will say so in the blueprint, with the reasons, before anything is built.
How we work
How a React Native mobile app development project runs
- Briefing
- You tell us what you are building, what exists already and what is in the way. We reply within two working days — with questions, or with the honest answer that you do not need us.
- Blueprint
- Scope, architecture, the stack and a fixed plan, agreed before a line of code is written. You know what is being built, in what order and why.
- Build
- Built in React Native and Expo, with test builds on your own phone from the first weeks. Working software every week or two, on a staging address you can open, rather than a reveal at the end.
- Launch and after
- Release, monitoring and a named team that stays. The code, the design files and the data are yours.
The record
A React Native agency with apps in the stores
We build and run the TRVL AIR app for iOS and Android in React Native and Expo, against the same Node.js platform that runs its website — the model we recommend to every client who has a web product and needs an app beside it.
19 years of work for brands including COSMOTE, Piraeus, Avène, MARKET IN, SCORPIOS, TRVL AIR and NEXTCOMMERCE.
Common questions
- What is a React Native app development agency?
- An agency that builds iOS and Android apps with React Native, Meta's framework for native apps written in React. TWENTYONE, in Athens, builds React Native apps with Expo, publishes them to the App Store and Google Play, and shares their code with the client's web platform.
- Is React Native good enough for a production app?
- Yes for the large majority of commercial products. React Native renders real native components and is used in production by Instagram, Shopify, Discord, Microsoft and Coinbase. Native is the better choice for sustained background location, heavy graphics or AR, and deep hardware work.
- Is React Native cheaper than two native apps?
- Usually, because one codebase and one team serve both iOS and Android, and fixes and features are written once. The saving continues after launch, since the two apps cannot drift apart.
- What is Expo, and why use it?
- Expo is the build, release and update tooling around React Native. It handles native builds for both stores, gives access to the phone's features, and delivers over-the-air updates to the JavaScript layer. TWENTYONE builds and ships its React Native apps with Expo.
- Can a React Native app be updated without App Store review?
- Partly. With Expo, over-the-air updates can change the JavaScript layer — most bug fixes and copy changes — within minutes. Changes to native code, permissions or dependencies need a new store build and review.
